Been a while since I wrote anything, but my husband came home on the 10th. Long time in coming, he had been gone a little over 14 months and 7 since we had seen him. It is nice to have him home. I had to drive to Jacksonville to get him, I had never been there before.
My daughter had her last day on the 11th, she is now a Senior in highschool. I remember the day I brought her home from the hospital, seems like yesterday.
My daughter got her braces off the day before her dad came home, completely excited was a major understatement. She smiles a lot and her teeth look really great. Her mouth does look a lot like mine.
We took the cats to the to say they seriously did not like any part of it. They are now able to travel into Canada and actually get into Alaska, which seems to have the bigger restrictions. We did get them ThunderShirts and they do seem to calm them down. We have driving them around town to calm them and it seems to be working quite well. They for some reason know exactly when we are home and are ready to book it.
The movers have been here the last two days...good grief and the boxes everywhere. I will be so glad when everything is loaded on the truck tomorrow and closed. The garage still has to be packed as well as the shed and pretty much after that it will be done.
The house closes on the 1st of June. We did not get the appraisal we wanted, actually time it is over and done we will have lost 20,000 on the house itself not to mention the Realtor fee's. It is extremely sad, this house was built in 2007 and by no means is it a shack, not a mansion but definitely worth what we paid for it 4 years ago.
With the big day being tomorrow I should have more time to keep this up to date and will seriously try!

Flip Flops and Sunshine
This week has been extremely hot to me. I finally realized why, this is the first year here we have not had a pool. Nothing to go cool off in. I do have a tan going on though, how I am getting so tan on my feet not really sure, except I wear flip flops every single day.
We are 22 days away from leaving this state YAH! 8 days from my hubs coming home DOUBLE YAH! Getting down to the end. It has been a long ride, and seems to be getting busier. I seem to have appointments every day or every other day for something to do with the move.
My beautiful daughter got her braces off today. Her smile is AMAZING, simply amazing. It is really cool to look at where her teeth were and to see where they are now. She said that she was gorgeous which is nothing new as soon as she saw herself without them, and that she has my smile. I agree her teeth do look a lot like mine now. I never wore braces, if her mouth were not so tiny perhaps they would have come in naturally straight. Now to keep that smile straight, we have to go back tomorrow and get the retainer that is removable, the permanent was put in today. Nice job from Hester and Morris in Valdosta, she got them off two and a half months earlier than expected because of the move.
Had the house appraiser out yesterday, I am hoping and praying the house appraises for what we are selling it for or more, we really do not want to have to kick in anymore money at this point.
My son finished his college online classes yesterday and actually managed to get certified in two of them. I am quite the proud momma today. That is hard work, I have been certified in one of those classes and missed the other by a few points. He blew them both out of the water and did not have the benefit of instructor help as he did them online.
The move at this moment does not seem to be moving at all, even though I know the days are getting closer. I suppose it is because the last time we moved we did it ourselves. We always said we would do one and we did ..and never again. That was a A LOT of hard work. I am glad I can sit back and watch someone else come in and pack up all of our belongings. The have to ensure they get there etc. because it is simply nerve wracking to do it from a few states away never mind clear across the country.

New Day
Had another long week. I had a dental appointment, girl had her next to the last ortho appointment. I had to take our truck down to get the cap put on that we ordered for it. At the same exact time we had a house inspection for the new buyers. Who knew that the buyers would actually go through the house with the inspector. After getting back from the ortho appointment and the truck cap install (2 hours later mind you), they were still here. I did get the paint samples from the female buyer, turns out..she must like my living room paint color the girl's room will go from home depot orange to seafoamish green. The rest of the house will be a coffee with 4 creams color, very similar to the guest bathroom now. They love the house, I heard that from them numerous times.
Our Realtor called today said it was the best house inspection she had ever seen, there is a plug somewhere, she was unable to hear the inspector very clearly, she thought he said one of the bathrooms. I find that to be odd, we do use those three plugs one in the Master and two in the guest bathroom all the time, after all you need to dry your hair or curl it everyday. They did not ask for us to pay for it and replace it so not sure if it will come up later, but that is a simple 5 dollar fix.
The truck is very strange now, looks like a completely different vehicle. It also drives like a different vehicle. Felt like the wind was dragging me down when I brought it home. I do know I have to take it back to the installer later in the month or early next month to get the door fixed, he doesn't like how it turned out and to be honest it has some very sharp edges on it. I dread driving that sucker South again to get it fixed.
We have 28 days left in Georgia counting today..getting butterflies already. It will not be long before my hubs comes home, which will be strange all in itself due to all the things I have had to do without him. I have to say that I think I can pretty much handle anything now all on my own. After all how many people have did a private party car sale, trailer and lawn mower, and sold a house? I know before now I would not have been able to say we did that together much less one of us by ourselves. I also fixed some grout this week, I am becoming a jack of all trades.
I have had some of the strangest dreams this week, I think the stress is killing me..lol. I also think staying up to all hours of the night and getting up at 7:30 to take girl to school and staying up is also wearing me down. I hope wherever we move too in Alaska..we live very close to the school and she can be the last one on in the morning and the first off in the afternoon. Being the first on and the last off sucks when you live 2 and a half miles from the school and the route is an hour each way, for this reason I have driven her every single day this year. Too much wasted time. This is one of the few school systems I have seen that actually takes all the kids to all the schools on one bus per route. The town is tiny but it tends to waste the time of the students riding the bus.
This has been my week so far. I am sure as we get going exciting things will happen...I hope anyway and I will try to post a little more frequently!

Long Week
It has been a very long week (April 16-20). I sold the car we needed to sell, because we did not feel that $3000 was a fair price to have it shipped to Alaska. The deal had been in the works for about three weeks. I am glad I was able to sell it and not have to do any serious advertising or anything like that. This happened on Monday.
On Tuesday, we got an offer on the house that I did not feel comfortable accepting on my own, so I had to wait to talk to my husband. He is time wise opposite of us, so I did not get to talk to him until late that night. We decided to accept the offer. I signed the paperwork on Wednesday, so we are officially under contract with the house. YAH! Huge YAH! It was a year in the making, keep in mind I just switched to a new Realtor the week before on Tuesday, took 8 days to get it under contract. I truly believe and I think this shows, where your Realtor is does truly matter and that is unfortunate because we loved the first one we had.
After we started figuring up financing etc. for our part due on the house closing etc. We decided to sell the zero turn mower we have owned for about 2 years. Fantastic mower and I suggest everyone get one if you have an acre or more to mow. I listed it on Wednesday online, I sold it on Friday. I have had a busy week meeting people and closing deals.
I honestly hope the house process goes as smoothly as my other two closings did. It has been a sad week, to watch stuff we have acquired be bought for a steal. Long ago when we started getting a little money, we decided anything we bought would be bought for long term usage not buy it now and toss it in a few months. We tend to pay a little more for what we assume are better brands. To watch the items disappear from around the house or the yard is kinda strange. I do have to say that cleaning and clearing out items you do not need can be a liberating experience if you do not get emotionally attached to stuff. I tend to, I will not lie, I grew up with very, little mostly hand me down items. I really try to take care of what I have.
I guess we have passed this on to our son, he is one of the reasons the car had to be sold, he loves the car we bought in 1998. We ordered it when we came back from Japan, he was seven years old. He is 21 now, it is his car. This car is the bomb I gotta admit. Who else has a 98 Ford Escort 5 speed that has had two people learn to drive a stick shift on it, still have the original clutch? But it is ok, we are all attached to that car in one way or another, it has a lot of memories. For instance the right passenger side door in the back seat, has teeth marks from our then 3 year old daughter who was teething in the car on the way to the mall one late December night. Or the BIG RED stain still on the back floor board, a soda from my childhood I gave to the kids and it got spilled. The dent in the front quarter panel, that happened from a stray shopping cart, taught us to park uphill and away from everyone else, because they surely do not appreciate your belongings as much as you do.

Fun Times Abound
Had a yard sale yesterday, it was kind of quick. For me I did not agonize days over the set up or pricing each individual item, normally I do. It was a make an offer day. We actually did really well, sold a lot of things I seriously thought I would have to take to the county dump. My son helped me, he stayed up all night playing video games, and had went outside before 5:30 a.m. to set the outside stuff up. He did a great job. We moved a few things and sat and waited on the sale to begin. He went in the house after about an hour and suddenly it was like Wal-Mart out in the front yard, cars lined both sides of the road, for whatever reason not one single person parked in our really long driveway. Didn't matter they all left with something which is the point. I believe in very cheap yard sales, if you ask about something you are taking it home with you pretty much, I wish other people priced their USED crap the same way when I go yard selling!
The funniest thing about the yard sale is I had a serious headache on Friday, had a lot of things to do, took a nap woke up really late, thinking I had to get the signs up and the old love seat out of the house. I woke up to find my kids had taken care of it all, they told me where they put up the signs. I wondered at the time if they were in good spots, but the next morning when people came all at once, I realized they must have nailed it! I also do not believe in advertising...LOL signs on the road and down when it is over is all we do!
In the midst of the cleaning of cabinets, attic, shed and closets, we have shown the house three times. Three times to the same people, they are stuck on this house and another. I hope they decide tomorrow that they NEED and WANT this house. If we could sell our house that will end a lot of issues. I am also going through a private party car sale at this very moment as well. We are selling one of our cars because we refuse to pay the $3,000 it cost to ship a second vehicle to Alaska. I am also selling things from the house that really have no business at a yard sale. I have sold the area rug, plants and thought I had the big screen sold. After waiting on someone for two weeks, I got stood up today. NOTHING Makes me madder then to be stood up for an appointment.
My daughter and I did our first special order for a photo shoot tonight, I hope the photographer loves the items we made. We actually bond over these things, we did a craft show Saturday night, right after the yard sale. I am telling you I have been BUSY! We have one more before we leave this state and that will put us at 4 for the year. I hope this year we find great success in our business and start to make money back on all the supplies we have bought and turn a fun/bonding time into a serious cash intake business.
Back to real life tomorrow as I finish up the car sale, find out if they want our house and I have a dreaded dentist appointment this week. Hopefully all three will turn out in my favor..haha! On that..have a good one!

Saying Goodbye Is Always Hard
Had to tell a realtor that we would not be staying with her yesterday. It hurt my feelings. I really truly like this person, I really think they are fantastic at their job. I just do not think that it was working this time..blame the economy, where the house is, the market something..but I do not think it was her fault. For whatever reason it just did not work out. She took it well, took it with a lot of professionalism and that makes me like her that much more. I would recommend her to anyone still.
Had to say goodbye to my group of band booster parents. I worked with this fantastic group of people over the last 3 years, we had some really great times. I think I may have enjoyed it more than my daughter enjoyed band..haha! Was really kinda sad for me to have to say goodbye.
Learned someone from my past died yesterday. I could not help but to cry, over this loss. I have not spoken to him since I was 18. His son was just born and that is the last time I can remember seeing him. But he is in a lot of my childhood memories. I pray his family finds peace.
My daughter told me yesterday her best friend at school seems to be shutting her out. She had made plans with her for Saturday and she has now cancelled them in lieu of going somewhere else with a group of kids who are not moving. This is the part of being a military family with kids that SUCK! Enjoy people while they are here..we are not guaranteed a tomorrow. No idea why anyone would do this to another person. I know when I have had close friends and had to move or they had to move, we cherished all those final moments together. It is sad at 16 they have not realized you can make life long friends with someone from anywhere and it is important to relish those final days. These are memories you will hold for the rest of your life.
The move is not an easy one, they never really are. Even if you truly want to go elsewhere start anew, there is always pain involved. Whether it be going through your house and downsizing, leaving a house you love, friends, or a state. Pain is going to be there, and it is a simple fact of Military life. The life we chose together almost 24 years ago, there are a few things I would change over the course of the last 24 years...but that big decision ...would never change it. It is ingrained and woven everywhere in our lives. We are a Military Family, he may serve ..but we all have sacrificed things in our own way.

Out with the old
SO, the last couple of days I have been going through different hide and stash areas around the house. I have found an amazing amount of paper trash which is great, and also a pretty good box of things that can be yardsale items. I find it funny how much stuff we collect, receipt after receipt after receipt and for some reason a lot of them seemed to be from our cell phone carrier. We do not get new phones often so no idea why.
We went to the beach last weekend in NC, we put up our tent that had not seen the light of day since 1997? It was a new tent then and we thought long and hard about the tent to buy, we wanted it to last for years to come. I guess life happened we got busy with jobs and it was hot in NC and therefore we never camped. But the kids and I took the tent to the beach and the girl fell in love, said she had never been tent camping before (she has, we camped all over Japan). The birds really seemed to love the tent, we brought that evidence home with us...LOL. The tent had to be set up in the backyard to be cleaned, the kids have slept out there twice now, not really sure why, but I do find it funny!
Today is Easter, no more baskets for the kids they are too old, the last couple of years we have gotten away from that. They do have a chocolate egg and some jellybeans waiting on them. So with that I hope you all have a great Holiday and get to spend it with the ones you love!
